Guidelines for Resubmission, Reapplication and Appeal of Accreditation ApplicationA. Introduction(i) It is the task of the Accreditation Committee to ensure that applicants for IACP Accreditation meet the published criteria and great care is taken over the assessment. (ii) The Accreditation Committee are aware of the considerable amount of time, energy and feelings invested by many applicants in the process of applying, and they make every effort to do each application justice and to treat it with respect. The reasons for non-accreditation are set out clearly in the Accreditation Committee’s final letter to the applicant. (iii) Nevertheless, it is important that under certain circumstances an application can be looked at again, and to this end the following procedures are available.
B. Resubmission(i) In the case, where an applicant most likely would have been accepted were it not the a vital bit of information was incomplete or omitted, the applicant may be invited to resubmit the application including the missing details. (ii) Resubmission has to take place within six months of the original application and there is a non-refundable fee.
C. Reapplication(i) Where an applicant has not satisfied the criteria they may want to reapply at a latter date, when the criteria has been met. (ii) This is a totally new application and there is a non-refundable fee.
D. Appeal(i) An applicant may appeal if they feel that they have grounds to believe that the assessment process was not carried out fairly and properly in accordance with the published criteria in operation at the time of the original application. The decision of the Appeals Panel is final. (ii) Appeals have to be made within two months of the refused application and there is a fee which is refundable if the appeal is upheld. (iii) A separate information sheet ( Information Sheet 6: IACP Accreditation Appeals Procedure ) detailing the procedure for appeal is available from the IACP office.
