IACP Open Day Report 15th October 2011The IACP’s Free Open Day, which was held in the Round Room of the Mansion House on Saturday 15th October 2011, was a great success. Hundreds of people attended throughout the day.
Exhibitors on the day included Accord, Awareness Education Services, Bodywhys.ie, Console, HSE – National Counselling, Irish Cancer Society, Irish Hospice Foundation, ISPCC, Life Care Pregnancy, One Family, One in Four, Relationships Ireland, See Change, The Village Counselling Service and Turning Point.
The Lord Mayor of Dublin, Andrew Montague officially opened the Information Day which had a broad range of expert speakers including Ray Henry (IACP Cathaoirleach), Marie Murray (Psychologist / Author), Elaine Geraghty (CEO reachout.com), Padraig O'Morain (Psychotherapist / Author), David Carroll (Director of Services Belong to), Susan Felstein (Author), Dr. Terry Lynch (GP / Author), Jane Ferguson (Accord), Dr. John Sharry (Psychotherapist / Author) and Fiona Flynn (Youth Development Officer Body Whys).
Presidential candidate Mary Davis also attended and acknowledged the contribution that IACP has made to the profession over the past 30 years. Mary and all of the other Presidential candidates had been invited to attend and were offered five minutes speaking time with the condition that they speak about mental health.
The IACP book 'Celebrating 30 Years' was officially launched at the event to mark the IACP's 30th anniversary. Preview copies were distributed on the day, and all IACP members will receive copies of the book in the coming weeks.
